Charlie Christensen, Staff Reporter
Charlie Christensen is a senior at Ankeny High School. He is a part of marching band, concert band, jazz band, and golf. He plans to major in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in music at the University of Iowa. A fun fact about him is that his favorite NBA team is the Denver Nuggets.
Rose McGill, Staff Reporter
Rose McGill is a senior at Ankeny High School. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends and pets. She has two dogs (Ivy and Annie) and three cats (Eleanor, Lily, and Luna). Rose enjoyed journalism in junior year and helped work on putting articles onto the website. Post graduation, Rose is planning on going to college to earn a degree in journalism or broadcasting.
Ava Sarenpa, Staff Reporter
Ava Sarenpa is a senior at Ankeny High School. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and hanging out with friends. She is undecided on where to go for college, but is thinking about majoring in either Journalism or Culinary Arts. A fun fact about Ava is she enjoys trying and cooking many new foods.
Alissa Hansen, Adviser
(she/her/hers) Alissa Hansen teaches English 10, AP Literature & Composition, and Journalism at Ankeny High School. Her birthday is Nov. 5. Hansen is adviser of The Talon. Hansen graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and Anthropology and a M.A.T in Secondary English Education. She was a reporter for a number of years at The Daily Iowa, The Press-Citizen, and managing editor and publisher of the Little Village (all in Iowa City) before entering the world of teaching. This is Hansen's 11th year teaching and second year at Ankeny High. She has four children (Rhys, 9, Ellis, 7, June, 5, and Finn, 2) and is married to an engineer. When Hansen has free time, which is very rare, she enjoys running, reading, journalism, being outdoors, and going on all of life's adventures with her family.
