The Talon
For many of the pickleball players, spending time with friends is just as much a part of the league as the game itself. The league is built to be flexible in working around players’ schedules. Because many of the players involved with the Ankeny Pickleball League are busy with other sports and activities, teams are open to finding any time to play, even if it means getting up early on a weekend for a game. On Sunday, May, the Houston Red Rockets and the Big Picklers went head-to-head in an early morning match-up. Sophomore Hayden Carlson hits the ball over the net.

Gabby Risk, Staff Reporter; Web Editor

(she/her/hers) Gabby Risk is a junior at Ankeny High School. Her birthday is August 13, 2004. She is most interested in being a Talon staff reporter and is co-web editor. Gabby is also involved in tennis, Teens Against Human Trafficking Club, and costume crew for the spring musical. Outside of school she enjoys photography, listening to music, reading, and writing.

AHS students spend their open period studying in the library. Many students have crowded the library since the beginning of the year to find a quiet space to work on homework. “The library is really nice to study in because it is really quiet,” junior Sophie Rolfing said.
